FORECAST:
It will be another hot day here in New Jersey as we enter the sixth heat wave of the year. High temperatures are predicted between 90 and 92 across the Garden State with increasing levels of humidity.
It will be muggy for the rest of the week. Today's hazy sun comes without rain but tomorrow will be different. Rain showers are spotty tomorrow afternoon and can produce a rumble of thunder or two.
Thunderstorms are expected more-so for Thursday, but there is little opportunity for it to be severe. Lightning is still a hazard, however.
The weather turns nice for Friday and through the weekend with warm highs in the upper 80s and sunshine.
There will be a celestial treat in the night sky tonight as tonight marks the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, one of the two most prominent meteor showers of the year. The other is the Geminids which occur in December. This meteor shower comes with a shooting star rate of nearly 15 per hour - on average. This is likely for our area since we will have a clear night sky. Unfortunately, the moon will interfere this year.
Another celestial treat will be the conjunction of Jupiter and Venus, as they look very close together in the eastern sky. They've been moving toward each other over the last several days!
