A 28-year-old from Laurelton was indicted Thursday for a crash on the Southern State Parkway that killed three people in 2022.
Ciara Hare was driving on the parkway on Nov. 5 when prosecutors say a speeding vehicle slammed into her car.
The 18-year-old and her two passengers, Florence Oprisan and Jean Marc Miller, died from their injuries.
The other driver, Matthew Whyte, was indicted on Thursday.
He is accused of being high on marijuana, driving recklessly at 93 mph and racing another car on the parkway.
District Attorney Anne Donnelly said he was, “weaving in and out of cars until he eventually clipped one of them, sending it off the side of the road killing three young innocent people.”
It took over a year to make an arrest in the case.
Whyte pleaded not guilty to several charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide.
If convicted, Whyte faces up to 25 years in prison.
The grieving families say it is an unbelievable tragedy that they now must live with for the rest of their lives.
"Every time you step into your car and drink or smoke or do any kinds of drugs, you destroy somebody's life," says Judith Miller.
