Convicted arsonist found guilty in murder-for-hire plot from prison

A convicted arsonist is now facing life in prison after being found guilty in a murder-for-hire plot targeting the officials who put him behind bars.

Stephen Smink, 62, was already serving a 15-year sentence in a Newark state prison for burning down the Loyle Lanes bowling alley in Vineland more than a decade ago.

While in prison, Smink coordinated the planned murders with another inmate who died before carrying them out, according to the Attorney General's Office.

Smink faces 30 years to life when he is sentenced next month.
