Commuters in Brooklyn are having to adjust their travel routines as phase 2 of the G-train shutdown is now underway.

The line is closed for repairs that officials say will make the train more efficient for riders by updating the signal system. However, until it reopens, Brooklyn residents are forced to find other ways to get around.

"The G is the only train close to my house so it's kind of really annoying that it's shut down for the whole summer," said Fiona, a commuter who relies heavily on the G train.

The MTA says this phase of the closure will last until Aug. 12. During that time, the G train won't operate between the Court Square and Bedford Nostrand stations. A free shuttle is available for travelers and even though they say it comes frequently it's still been a hard adjustment.

"I would say it's been a little more difficult, probably having to add another 30 minutes, 45 minutes to my commute," said Frank Cifuentes.

Once the renovations are completed at the stations here, the next set of repairs will be between Bedford Nostrand and Church Avenues. That will last from Aug. 12 to Sept. 13.
