A Cape May County nursing home has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases, including several deaths.

A Cape May County nursing home has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases, including several deaths.
Victoria Manor in Lower Township is reporting three residents have died due to the virus. The facility reports 30 cases of COVID-19, including 19 residents and 11 workers.
The Cape May County Health Department says that the first person to pass away was an 86-year-old man who was hospitalized for the virus. Two other residents have died since Tuesday.
Genesis Health Care operates the facility, which has 120 beds.

A spokesperson for Genesis Health says in a statement, “At Victoria Manor, we are adhering to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines and recommended protocols for COVID-19. We continue to follow to the letter the direction of the New Jersey Department of Health in an effort to contain and minimize the spread of the virus.
The statement goes on to say, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these residents during this difficult time, especially the families of the three residents who passed away.”
The Cape May Department of Health has delivered 400 surgical masks and 200 gowns to the facility this week. They say that Victoria Manner is following all CDC guidelines, including deep cleaning the facility on a regular basis.
Cape May County is now trying to get a drive-thru testing site up and running for county residents. It is expected to open by April 15.
