Blakeman addresses flash flood warning in Nassau County
Residents are asked to stay home unless "absolutely necessary," and to avoid driving.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman held a news conference Thursday afternoon about the potential for flash flooding in the area.
There is a 70% chance that flash flooding could occur between 2 p.m. and 8 a.m. Friday morning, according to Blakeman.
Severe rainfall of 2 to 3 inches per hour may occur up until 9 p.m., or into the morning if the storm stalls over Nassau County.
The county is activating vehicles from the Office of Emergency Management to monitor flooding.
Residents are asked to stay home unless "absolutely necessary," and to avoid driving, according to Blakeman.
Wind gust may cause trees and power lines to fall. In the event of down power lines, residents are asked to call PSEG at 800-490-0075. Residents should call 911 only in the event of an emergency.
The county is "preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best," according to Blakeman.
