Seaside Heights has been named one of the top party beaches in the United States, coming in at No. 5 on a list released by Hotels.com.

Miami Beach claimed the top spot, followed by Waikiki Beach in Hawaii.

The hotel booking site ranked beaches nationwide based on nightlife and atmosphere. Seaside Heights earned its spot, thanks in part to its lively boardwalk lined with restaurants, bars, arcades, rides and games. Some residents said they were surprised the Jersey Shore destination landed so high on the list. But as far as the East Coast goes, New Jersey edged out New York's Fire Island by one spot.
