A veteran firefighter in Bedminster is using two firefighter helmets to preserve the heroic acts that followed the terror attacks of Sept. 11.
The helmets with written messages of sympathy are from firefighters in Australia. They were intended for FDNY, but in the horrific aftermath, they just never got there.
Peter Cagnassola then became their guardian. He says they symbolize a brotherhood, the foundation of every firehouse.
He makes the helmets available to fire and police academies, schools and to help raise money for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
