A New Jersey artist says that she wants people to consider the Meadowlands as more than a place for shopping and entertainment.
Artist Larissa Belcic and collaborator Jose Nieto have come up with their own take on the Meadowlands. Belcic was putting the finishing touches on items on Thursday. Her artwork is a re-creation of the natural elements of the famous wetlands area of New Jersey.
The work will be on display Friday night at Smush Gallery in Jersey City. It will be on view in the form of a pop-up, one-night-only experience.
“So, there'll be a lot of sounds and sights and things to touch that are actually from the landscape itself,” Belcic says. “And then woven through that will also be some material, a primer, we're making a little book that talks about the history of the Meadowlands."
More information about the one-night-only event can be found at the Smush Gallery website.
