Authorities have identified the 18-year-old man who drowned in a Morris Township pond over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Hillario Manuel Mendez-Vincente, 18, of Morristown, entered Jones Pond at about 6:28 p.m. on July 4, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

A witness reported seeing Mendez-Vincente struggling to swim before calling 911. First responders came to the scene and, after a search, found him submerged in the water.

A postmortem examination will be conducted by the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities said no foul play is suspected.
