An accident shut down Route 9 through Old Bridge early this morning.

Detours were in place after an early morning accident on Route 9 at Jake Brown Road in which a traffic light stanchion was destroyed.

Traffic was being detoured at Schulmeister Road and Route 9 was closed southbound from Schulmeister Road to Jake Brown Road.

The incident happened around 2:45 a.m.

There is no word on if there are any injuries.
