Two Suffolk police officers narrowly missed being hit by a car last Friday night.

The officers were standing with a vehicle pulled over for a traffic stop when they had to jump out of the way of a drunk driver, police say.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on May 15 on Gordon Ave. near Straight Path in Wyandanch.

Caught on surveillance cameras, the vehicle can be seen speeding and crashing into two parked vehicles and then the marked police unit.

Suffolk police tell News 12 both officers, a man and woman, were not injured.

The driver, a 24-year-old Wyandanch man, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Police tell News 12 this video serves as a reminder to never drink and drive, especially during the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.

"Make the right decision," says Chief of Patrol Gerard Hardy, who is with Suffolk County Police. "Hire a ride-share service, pre-plan, don't get in the car under the influence of drugs and alcohol."
