Barringer High School celebrated the reopening of the newly renovated Newark Schools Stadium with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The stadium now has an all-new turf field, running track and seating. Barringer High School had been forced to use athletic fields at other schools in the district.

It is the third stadium renovation for Newark schools in the last three years.

“It represents our school, our royal blue is bleeding throughout the entire field. We are so excited to be able to run track, play football, softball and baseball all here,” said Principal Natasha Pared.

The stadium was originally built in 1925 before it was demolished in 2009, rebuilt and now modernized.

The first event at the stadium will take place on June 9 with the start of the Newark Games, which involves students in grades K-12.
