A rabbit is safe after it was hit by a car in Suffolk County.

Strong Island Animal Rescue got the call to help with the rescue on Wednesday morning.

The driver thought the furry critter was dead after striking it, but ended up finding it was alive and stuck in the vehicle’s grill.

Tools were used to remove some plastic pieces before they were able to reach the rabbit and free him.

Rescuers rushed him to Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown to be checked out.

After getting the okay from the rehabilitation clinic, Strong Island released the rabbit back into the wild.
