A fast-moving fire broke out early Wednesday morning at a warehouse in Newark, prompting a rapid response from city firefighters.

The blaze was reported around 4:52 a.m. in the 200 block of Passaic Street, where crews arrived and launched an aggressive attack on the flames, the city’s Public Safety Director said.

The fire was declared under control by 5:18 a.m., less than 30 minutes after the initial call.

Officials said no injuries were reported in connection with the fire. While the flames have been extinguished, the scene remains active as officials work to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Authorities said no immediate information was available about the extent of the damage or what was stored inside the warehouse.
