A New Jersey borough may outlaw smoking in its parks.
The proposed law in West Paterson could range from establishing designated smoking areas to an all-out ban on tobacco products. ?We just want to keep our public parks and playgrounds a smoke-free environment,? says West Paterson Councilman Dominick Di Domenico.
Several New Jersey municipalities have smoking bans but if West Paterson passes the ordinance, it will impose the highest fines in the state. It would cost $200 to light up in any of the borough?s seven parks.
