More than 200 Hillside residents have signed a petition calling for action against Hollywood Blue Ribbon, a restaurant they say operates as a nightclub and disrupts their quality of life.
Neighbors who live near the restaurant say loud music, crowds and trash have become routine several nights a week.
“We can’t rest at night starting from Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,” resident John Silva said. “They have like all these crazy parties.”
Silva, who has lived in the area for eight years, said the noise is only part of the problem. He and other residents report broken glass, liquor bottles and garbage left on nearby sidewalks.
Another resident, Marilza Machado, said her vehicles have been hit multiple times this year by people leaving the establishment. She said the most recent crash caused $8,000 in damage and that no one has taken responsibility.
A neighbor who did not want to be identified said he was assaulted after someone parked across his driveway.
“They assaulted me, they spit in my face, they pushed me to the ground,” he said.
Residents say they have raised concerns with local officials but have not received any solutions. News 12 New Jersey has reached out to the Hillside mayor, Hollywood Blue Ribbon and the Hillside Police Department for comment.
