Health officials say about 80 million Americans who can get the COVID-19
vaccine still haven't, and Dr. Anthony
Fauci says getting everyone the shot is key to ending the pandemic.
"We could turn this
around and we could do it efficiently and quickly if we just get those people
vaccinated,” says Dr. Fauci. “That's why it's so important now in this crisis
that we're in, that people put aside any ideological, political or other
differences and just get vaccinated. We'll make the vaccinations as easy and
convenient for people. We want them to come forward for themselves, for their
own health, for those of their family as well as for the community."
Dr. Fauci is also encouraging everyone to get booster shots.
He says people will probably
need to wait eight months after being fully vaccinated, but they are still
reviewing data.
President Joe Biden said Friday the White House is considering allowing
booster shots earlier, as soon as five months after the second dose.
