A movie based on the breakthrough novel by Judy Blume is coming out in theaters this Friday, 53 years after her novel was first published. The tribulations of preteen girlhood and the rites of puberty all play out. “Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret” is based in part on Blume's own pre-teen years growing up in Elizabeth. Abby Ryder Fortson plays the character Margaret who has a lot of questions about religion, boys and her own body. Oscar-nominated actress Rachel McAdams plays her understanding mom.

A new documentary about Judy Blume’s life is out now on Amazon Prime. "Judy Blume Forever" honors the 85-year-old author who has sold millions of books over the past five decades. The documentary traces Blume's journey from a fearful, imaginative child in New Jersey to a storytelling pioneer capturing the emotional lives of kids and teens. In her career, she also became a banned writer who continues to fight back against censorship today. The documentary also includes letters she exchanged with fans who were growing up at the time she began writing her books.

Wé Ani continues to wipe out the competition on “American Idol.” The 24-year-old from Paterson is now in the top 12! In Monday night's live episode, Ani sung "The Greatest Showman" song "This Is Me."
