September is National Addiction Recovery month and several events are held across the state to help raise awareness.
Many put on their running sneakers for the first-ever Morris County Addiction Recovery Awareness Walk.
Freedom House Executive Director Glenn King, who helped organize the walk, says the goal is to support recovery efforts and decrease the stigma around addiction.
Many participants have a loved one recovering from addiction and some are in recovery themselves.
King says anyone walking who is a recovering addict of more than 10 years received a sash. King says he is a recovering addict for more than 24 years himself.
