Breeze Airways will now be the second airline to fly out of Tweed-New Haven Airport – and have 10 different destinations.
This is the first time in about 20 years that the airport has service from more than one airline.
"I think it's great for the airport, I think it's great for the community, there's going to be more jobs and more flight options," said Alexei Cassano, who was among the passengers to depart on the first Breeze flight from New Haven.
Avelo Airlines has been the only airline to service Tweed-New Haven since its launch in November 2021.
"In the past three years alone, we've added about 400 direct jobs and many more indirectly, strengthening our local economy and supporting our community," said Jorge Roberts, CEO of Aveports and manager of Tweed-New Haven Airport.
"Each and every person that wore that Tweed uniform and thought this airport could be so much more, congratulations," said Connecticut Comptroller Sean Scanlon.
