(08/29/07) TRENTON (AP) - A truck driver now jailed in Massachusetts has been charged in the stabbing death of a Hunterdon County woman. Adam Lane of North Carolina was linked to the crime after being charged in Massachusetts with trying to rape and kidnap a young girl. The body of 38-year-old Monica Massaro was found in her Bloomsbury apartment on July 30th. But Hunterdon authorities were stymied in finding her killer for weeks because she was "very outgoing." Then, on August 20th, a federal database that keeps information on truck drivers who are criminal suspects came up with Lane's name. And authorities learned that on the same day Massaro's body was found, Lane had been arrested in Massachusetts for the rape attempt. They then noticed similarities between the two crimes and confirmed that Lane was in the area of Massaro's apartment around the time she was killed.
