Antonia-Beatrice Mircea, 33, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiracy to commit marriage fraud after entering into a sham marriage to obtain permanent residence in the United States, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Federal prosecutors said Mircea, a Romanian citizen, entered into the marriage with U.S. citizen Victor Purilla.

According to court statements and filings, Mircea falsely stated on immigration forms that she lived with Purilla in Atlantic City. Prosecutors said Purilla never lived with Mircea and maintained his own residence in Absecon.

Mircea is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 25, 2027. The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
