News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Michele Powers says wind and rain will continue tonight and into Sunday as the center of Tropical Storm Ophelia weakens but heads farther north. The storm will linger over the tri-state area until Monday, with each day seeing slight changes.
Rainfall rates will taper tonight, but it doesn't completely stop raining. Mist or drizzle with scattered showers will take us into early Sunday. The axis of the heaviest rain will shift from southern areas into northern parts of the state by Sunday afternoon. At times the rain will taper, but waves of steady rain continue Sunday. Slight risk of a few isolated T-storms.
SUNDAY: Flooding concerns as rain continues to cumulate. As rain totals edge 4" in some towns. Coastal impacts linger with 1-3ft inundation and rough surf. Moderate rain pushes away by late afternoon/evening. Showers stay. Highs near 65. Lows near 56.
