Storms hit New Jersey Tuesday night, causing significant damage in some areas.
The thunderstorm brought a tree down in Little Silver, hitting a home.
It happened around 7 p.m. Tuesday. A family was home having dinner when the tree in their front yard was hit by lightning.
It split in pieces and collapsed, hitting the home twice. It went through one bedroom and hit another corner of the home. It also damaged the owner's truck, that was parked on the side of the home.
No one was hurt, but the home will need a lot of work.
Police and the Little Silver Fire Department quickly arrived on site. Neighbors also ran over to help.
"We had almost half the neighborhood here, more chainsaws than you could count. Everyone putting in their best effort to pick up the pieces and minimize the damage in any way we could," said Marisa Wilson, daughter of the homeowner.
The tree also took down a power line that ran above the home. The homeowner said JCP&L immediately came out to fix it and restore power.
They were able to stay in the home overnight, with power restored and two bedrooms untouched.
