The unofficial holiday after Thanksgiving is Black Friday. And as the holiday shopping season begins, it’s important to beware of possible scams.

Here are some tips to help you avoid scams:

  • Keep a look out for fake stores online. Scammers can advertise incredible deals on social media, but they often lead to fake sites.
  • Beware of fake gift cards. Some scammers on the web sell gift cards that arrive with no balance.
  • Plus keep an eye out for fake shipping notifications. Scammers are known to email or text a delivery notification with a tracking link, but it’s really a phishing link used for identity theft.
