A Clifton family is homeless after fleeing from their burning home Sunday night.
The three-alarm fire raged for an hour, burning through most of the rear of the two-family home. The fire caused the roof to collapse before firefighters could get it under control.
Firefighters say the fire was difficult to extinguish because of its size. When they hooked up their truck to a nearby hydrant, they couldn?t get any water out due to low water pressure.
While the family lost just about everything, they say they are lucky to be alive. Homeowner Catalina Mendoza barely got out of the home in time due to her bad knee, but says she is grateful.
One of the residents inside the building and a neighbor were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Fire officials say the exact cause of the blaze is under investigation.
