New Jersey's gubernatorial race took a turn Sunday when the state's largest newspaper, the Star-Ledger, endorsed independent candidate Chris Daggett.
Daggett says the Star-Ledger recognizes what he can bring to the table. "[People] don't believe that either party is willing or able to stand up to the issues that face the state and its good that the Star-Ledger recognized that" he says.
Republican candidate Chris Christie says he believes endorsements don?t matter in a campaign. "I don't think endorsements really matter all that much. I really don't," he says. "I'm a little disturbed that they endorsed before the debate on Friday when they said they wouldn't. But at the end of the day, endorsements don't really matter."
Daggett still trails in the polls, but Friday's debate gives him another chance to convince New Jersey voters that there is an alternative to the two-party system.
