Daylight Bayonne shooting leads to 6 arrests, including victim found carrying 2 loaded guns

Six individuals are facing charges following a daytime shooting in Bayonne on Wednesday that ended with multiple arrests and three guns taken off the street.
Bayonne police officers responded to West 23rd Street and Church Lane around 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 23 following reports of gunfire. At the scene, officers found evidence of a crime scene and recovered three spent shell casings.
Shortly after, police were notified that an 18-year-old Bayonne resident, Joseph Pilovsky, had arrived at RWJBarnabas Health – Bayonne with a gunshot wound to the leg. Pilovsky was treated and reported to be in stable condition.
Detectives quickly identified a suspect vehicle connected to the shooting and located it minutes later near Route 440 North and 30th Street. Police took four occupants into custody: 18-year-old Quamere Allen of Bayonne, 18-year-old Jayshawn Smith of Jersey City, and two 17-year-old juveniles from Jersey City.
As the investigation unfolded, detectives determined that a third 17-year-old juvenile from Bayonne had been inside the vehicle during the altercation and was the shooter. Officers located the teen at his residence, arrested him, and recovered the loaded firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
Investigators further discovered that Pilovsky had been carrying two loaded handguns during the confrontation and had pointed one toward the suspect vehicle. Police recovered both weapons, one of which was equipped with a large-capacity magazine, and placed Pilovsky under arrest.
