In the 1968 film “The Swimmer,” a character played by Burt Lancaster swims home from a cocktail party by taking a dip in a chain of pools across his suburban neighborhood.

Since reading the story on which the movie was based years ago, News 12 New Jersey’s Brian Donohue says that he has always wanted to try it.

But rather than stick to just one neighborhood, Donohue decided to swim across the Garden State by way of your backyard pools.

Donohue put out the call on Twitter and was surprised that so many people were willing to invite him over for a swim.

This shows some pure New Jersey hospitality!
