CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. (AP) -- New Jersey officials say an incident where a man was throwing coffee mugs at patrons at a Cliffside Park restaurant resulted in a six-hour standoff with the Bergen County SWAT team.
According to police, the standoff was resolved peacefully Thursday night. The Record reports the man was seen being taken away on a stretcher around 2:15 a.m.
Cliffside Park spokesman Bill Maer says police received reports of an emotionally disturbed person throwing objects at people. Maer says the man barricaded himself in his home after being confronted by police.
