Traffic into Manhattan and returning to the Garden State was snarled Friday after a suspicious bottle was found on the New Jersey side of the Lincoln Tunnel.
Traffic was diverted as authorities responded, forcing the closure of Route 495 in both directions between 4 and 7 p.m.
Members of the Jersey City Police Department's bomb squad were brought in to analyze the bottle, which was deemed harmless. This was the second time this week a suspicious bottle tied up traffic and was ultimately deemed safe.
