More than 3,000 runners gathered in West Orange on Sunday for the 10th annual Running With the Devils 5K Run and Walk, hosted by the New Jersey Devils and RWJBarnabas Health.
The event featured Devils merchandise, mascots and appearances by former players, who celebrated the race's growth over the years.
"It's become a big thing and lots of families out. It's a big family event. Lots of kids, all people of every age. So perfect day for it," said Colin White, who played parts of 11 seasons with the Devils.
Bruce Driver, who won a Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 1995, said the event offers former players an opportunity to connect with fans.
"For us to get involved as alumni in the community, we love coming out to events like this and just being here, meeting the people and getting them excited about the race," Driver said.
RWJBarnabas Health officials said the event has raised more than $1 million since its inception 10 years ago.
