Cheers were all around at the Summit Police Department Monday as the force welcomed back an officer who was severely injured while on duty.
Nearly two years ago, Officer Anthony Pyzik was on patrol when a car thief crashed into his police vehicle head-on.
After seven major surgeries and months of physical therapy, he's back home.
"It's taken me three times a week, PT, strenuous exercise on my muscles to somewhat get back to my 100%. I'm still not there, I'm still currently rehabbing, But I'm almost there and I'm glad to be back in the city of Summit," Pyzik said.
Pyzik added that getting back to helping the people of Summit kept him motivated on his road to recovery.
