An escape artist's stunt nearly turned deadly Tuesday in New Brunswick when something with the stunt went wrong.
Famed illusionist Criss Angel and escape artist Spencer Horsman were at the State Theater in New Brunswick to promote Angel's "The Supernaturalists" magic tour.
As part of the promotion, Horsman performed a stunt known as the "water torture cell." Horsman was chained up and submerged in a Plexiglas box filled with water hanging above Livingston Avenue. He was given two lock picks and was supposed to escape from the box.
However, Horsman dropped one of his picks. After over three minutes of being submerged underwater, his support staff quickly pulled him out of the box. He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital to be checked out, but is expected to be OK.
