A New Jersey tree trimmer has rescued more than 100 cats throughout the Garden State.
It's a mission Steven Murrow unintentionally set out on about three years ago after a friend called him for help.
"There was a cat that was stuck up there for five days. It was cold, it was March," Murrow recalls. "They called me, they asked if I could help in this situation, and I was like, 'absolutely.'"
From there, friends and neighbors began to call Murrow to the rescue.
"So sometimes they call the fire department first and after they've exhausted all options, they go online and type in like, 'cat in a tree rescue,'" Murrow explains.
Murrow combines his love for climbing and special set of skills to help people reunite with their pet.
"The reason I do this is because I was raised in a family where it was the right thing if you could help another person, you would do that," Murrow says.
He lives in Pittman in South Jersey but says he'll travel up to an hour to rescue an animal in distress.
"I do this because it's the right thing to do, and if my story can inspire others to just be good, be kind in any kind of way, whether that's adopting from their local shelter or donating to their shelter, or just holding the door for somebody, then I've done my job," Murrow says.
