The American Dream megamall in East Rutherford was temporarily evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to a suspicious vehicle.
New Jersey State Police say a Tesla legally parked in the C parking deck had its driver-side door open and was left unattended, which caused some suspicion.
“As part of their protective measures, two American Dream K-9 units conducted initial sweeps of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert,” state police wrote in a statement.
The mall was evacuated as a precaution while the Bergen County K-9 and New Jersey State Police K-9 units did a sweep of the area.
“Bergen County Bomb Unit responded, thoroughly cleared the vehicle, and found no indication of any devices,” state police said.
The mall was then reopened and everyone was allowed back inside.
