All good things have to come to an end and that includes our time with early spring conditions.
Temperatures are 20 degrees cooler now than yesterday for those New Jersey neighborhoods along and north of Interstate 80. The rest of the state has been 10 to 15 degrees colder than yesterday. Ce la vie.
The clouds will continue to collect tonight. While there will be a slight chill, southerly winds for most of the night will keep lows from dropping too far. Normal bedtime lows are around 33. Tonight will be in the upper-30s to low-40s. It also helps that we get tucked in with a nice thick blanket of clouds for insulation.
Tomorrow looks overcast and chilly. The winds will primarily be onshore. This will keep daily highs in the mid- to upper 40s.
A lunar eclipse will be taking place late Thursday night into the pre-dawn hours of Friday. The moon will pass through the Earth's shadow, making our celestial satellite appear blood red! The show starts just before midnight. Totality starts around 2:26 a.m. and lasts until 3:31 a.m. Forecasting fingers are crossed that the clouds will peel away for us to see the event.
Friday could actually be slightly better than model guidance suggests. Fair weather will briefly pass just north of the region. It should be close enough to help alleviate some cloud coverage and allow for some brightening of our skies. Just the slightest bit of sun should send temps above the 50-degree mark.
The weekend - Saturday is cloudy. Sunday is cloudy, with late-day storms possible.
Sunday will not be a washout. The rain will likely hold until after sunset. The question the weather team will be ironing out over the next few days will be how unsettled the storms will be. It's possible there might be some thunderstorms at some point in the evening.
