A South Brunswick man confessed Saturday to killing his parents.
After reporting that his parents were missing on Oct. 17, 20-year-old Michael Maltese, Jr. admitted to murdering them. His girlfriend, 18-year-old Nikki Taylor, was also charged.
The bodies of Michael Maltese, 58, and his wife Kathleen, 53, were found by investigators buried in a shallow grave in Beech Woods Park. Police have not disclosed the cause of the couple?s death.
Neighbors were shocked by the news, although according to Harry Slover, who lives across the street, Maltese?s parents did not trust him to stay home alone.
Maltese has been charged with murder and is being held on $2 million bail. His girlfriend has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and is being held on $1 million bail.
