Authorities in Paterson are investigating the stabbing of a 5-year-old.
News 12 New Jersey has learned that the child was taken to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in critical condition.
It was shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday that police responded to 92 Carroll St. Sources are telling News 12 that it happened on a third-floor apartment and that police took a woman into custody.
Different law enforcement agents were seen coming in and out of the building. Specific circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain unclear.
News 12 has reached out to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and is waiting for more information.
