The Small Business Services/Department of Labor Career Center has been in Harlem for more than a decade and recently received a refresh.
On Wednesday, officials held a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the updated space. The center takes up the entire sixth floor of a building on 125th Street. The newly renovated space has computers, classrooms and conference rooms where clients can meet with career counselors. They also offer free workshops, training resources and resume help. Small Business Services has a network of 18 workforce and one career centers across the five boroughs.
“My words to any jobseekers out there this morning - seize this moment. Let us help you find your next career. Think of the Department of Labor and Small Business Services as a bridge to help you get to where you want to be. Please come down here and use our resources at the center and don’t forget that we also have a slew of offerings online. You can come in person, online, do a hybrid,” Labor Commissioner, Roberta Reardon, told the crowd at the ribbon cutting. The new space is open to the public and takes walk-ins.
