Police: Man dies during home demolition accident in Scotch Plains

Police say multiple medical personnel arrived on scene and located the severely injured victim with head trauma.

Scotch Plains police say a man was killed when he was hit by a bucket of a backhoe by accident while working to demolish a home.
The incident happened Monday on the 2000 block of Mountain Avenue. According to police, multiple medical personnel arrived on scene and located the severely injured victim with head trauma. His identity has not been released.
The man was taken to Overlook Hospital in Summit where he was pronounced dead.
The incident is still under investigation by police, but authorities say it appears to be accidental. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was also notified and is conducting their own investigation.
