Extreme heat continues to cause concern today for boaters and businesses near the Shark River Train Bridge in Monmouth County.
NJ Transit said it temporarily closed the bridge to marine traffic out of caution, citing the risk of metal components expanding in the heat and affecting the bridge’s ability to close.
The shutdown left some boaters unable to return to the marina for hours and forced businesses to cancel reservations, costing them tens of thousands of dollars.
Some hoped last night’s rain would bring relief and prevent more disruptions today.
