Newark Liberty International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the United States, but travelers have face countless delays and cancellations. Now, federal investigators are working to learn why.
Last July, the Federal Aviation Administration relocated Newark's air traffic control facility in Long Island to Philadelphia. The secretary of transportation requested to launch an audit following a string of problems.

There were more than 400 delays and 80 cancellations Monday, according to FlightAware. There were more than 800 delays and 180 cancellations over the weekend.
Earlier this year, air traffic controllers overseeing the airport experienced a minute and a half of blackout-- no radio contact or radar - due to a burnt copper wire. It happened a second time due to infrastructure issues.
A memo from the inspector general questions the FAA's handling of the relocation project -- including the systems, operations, staffing and training.
The inspector general says the audit will begin in August.
