Seaside Heights passed emergency measures this week to help cut back on problems on the boardwalk and beach.
Following neighboring Toms River, the Seaside Heights council introduced an ordinance to establish a 10 p.m. curfew for those under the age of 18. In addition, beaches will be closed at 8 p.m. unless there's a sanctioned event taking place.
Seaside Heights Mayor Anthony Vaz says the new rules are effective immediately. He says there will also be undercover police officers patrolling the boardwalk starting Friday.
These new measures are in response to a rowdy Memorial Day weekend crowd and complaints from neighbors. Similar curfews are already in place in Lavallette and Ortley Beach.
