Two Trenton police vehicles crashed into each other Sunday while responding to assist officers trying to stop a stolen vehicle, according to police.

The crash happened around 1:35 p.m. as the vehicles were responding to other police units trying to stop the stolen vehicle. One of the police vehicles then struck a civilian vehicle that was stopped at the intersection of Prospect Street and Bellevue Avenue, police said.

The detectives involved in the crash were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the stolen vehicle was later involved in a separate crash at Calhoun Street and Bellevue Avenue after running a red light.

The occupants of the stolen vehicle were taken into custody and transported to a hospital with minor injuries from the crash, police said. The occupants of the other vehicle involved in that crash were also taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police did not immediately provide additional information about the people taken into custody or any charges.
