A local parents group called IRL NY hosted an "Alternative Device Fair" on Saturday.
It took place at the Rye Recreation building.
Organizers from the group said the event was designed for parents who are looking to gift devices that are safe and kid-friendly to their children this holiday season.
It's a kind of technology that parent Emily Wells said will help kids stay connected while avoiding the dangers of social media and the open internet.
"We want to try to shift the iPhone or bust culture and get safer devices into kid's hands," Wells said. "We understand that parents need to be able to contact their kids [and] kids need to be able to get in touch with each other, but there are better devices out there."
