A man from Plainfield has been sentenced to a year in jail for assaulting a police officer with a dirt bike in 2022.
Authorities say police attempted to arrest Victor Ogando-Marte for reckless driving on Route 22 in North Plainfield.
He did not comply and used his motorcycle to drag the officer onto the highway. Other bikers also attacked the officer and then fled the scene.
Ogando-Marte was convicted of aggravated assault and several other charges.
