Two Atlantic County men have been arrested after more than 150 roosters were found in deplorable conditions, authorities say.
Sigredo Perez, 81, and Queli Merlo, 50, were charged with animal cruelty and are accused of raising some of the animals to participate in fights.
Troopers found the roosters back in January, and they have now been taken in by Funny Farms Rescue in Mays Landing.
The rescue is now asking for donations to help build the animals permanent homes.
