A recent Kane in Your Corner report on the Sussex Wantage School District has drummed up mixed responses from residents.
In the report, school board members criticized excessive spending by state-funded districts. The board had shuffled things up to get necessary construction done with existing funds after a $20 million bond was voted down.
"They build these Taj Mahals for the Abbott districts," said Arthur Jacobs, Sussex Wantage School Board. "There's no need for that."
Some News 12 New Jersey viewers echoed the sentiments and applauded the district. Others said the district is taking too much credit while not taking care of all the district's needs.
"This was not nearly what was on the original list of repairs and additions and upgrades that were going to be done to the schools for the $20 million - not nearly a fraction of them were done," said one caller.
